Episode Thirty Six: 47.2 MB
A new show with some great new segments. My first demo with the Vienna Instruments Special Edition. And of course the Interview that I did with Herb Tucmandl. Some thoughts on Controllers and uses with sample libraries although I will do a bigger topic on these later. Some lovely music from Matt Gates, Nick Simpson and Beat Kaufmann.

The Interview will be available for download on it's own very shortly. I just need to upload it so bare with me. As for the lateness of this show. I've been a little under the weather lately and not really had to much enthusiasm. Creating the Podcast is quite intensive and so it's been a while since I've felt like I can talk into the mic. However, I'm glad to say I'm feeling much better now. I put out the Vidcast edition to make up for the shortfall of Audio Podcast shows which I hope you all enjoyed. If you haven't seen it yet then head on over to the Vidcast section of my site. So, enjoy the show.

If you wish to support the Podcast there is a great way you can do this. By purchasing my current CD 'Elven Moods II' (A CD made using entirely the VSL First Edition and Epic Horns), all the money I receive from this help me to make more and better music and give me time to do the podcast. And it's better than a donation button, cos this way you get a wonderful piece of music, and it costs much less than the standard price of a Store bought CD. :D My CD is currently available in many different formats and also as a real CD, so head along to my site
(www.hetoreyn.com) to find out more about that.

This weeks show is not the show with the interview from John Frizzell as I am still waiting for final approval from John. But no worries as I have a music packed show for you whilst we wait. We hear music pieces from Myself and Laurence Gien, Dummy, Giles Costard, Nathan Pinard, and Michael Dobbins. Also my thanks to all those who have sent me e-mail thanking me for my efforts in doing the show. It's great to see the reaction from you all and makes doing the show really worth while to know that I'm helping others and entertaining you at the same time. Although it would not be possible without you .. the composers who are kind enough to send you music in for me to showcase here. If anyone wants to have your music played on the podcast then send me an e-mail.

Hi folks. We're back again and this time with an Interview with Hollywood composer John Frizzell. Also there is John Frizzells VI Logic template on my site for all to download and have a shufty at. Just head along to the VSL Tech page. For the rest of the show we have music by Beat Kaufmann and Guy Bacos (From Guys new "An evening with Guy Bacos". VSL starts the summer sales of Pro Edition and Horizon series libraries so if you want to catch some good bargains then go to the VSL site and took a look. Rob Johnson suggests a topic on what we use to compose with and is interested to know how all you other composers use your sequencers. Do you use your keyboards velocity touch, or a controller .. or just plain notation. Let me know and I will read them out on the next shows. Hope you enjoy.

After an exhausting month of moving and toiling with trying to get my studio rebuilt it's now all up and running and the Podcast can resume. I have a nice new show for you all encompassing some thoughts about sequencers, (as I have Cubase 4 which I've been testing out for VSL mixing), use of controllers (for the "Preserving the stream of thought" thread), and some thoughts on what you can try to do should you lose your muse for writing new music.

Also we have music from Tanuj Tiku, and Elan Hickler. Beat Kaufmann has opened up a section on his site for sharing presets for music making so go check it out at www.beat-kaufmann.com.

Episode Forty: 77.8 MB

Hey guys, wer'e back with a new show and a new interview. This time I have Hollywood composer and arranger Greg Smith on the line and talking to us about his career and experiences on the Star Trek TV shows. Also some product news .. although this news comes a little late due to my ongoing time commitments to Scoring the Star Trek Fan film - Starship Farragut. (Details to follow on this in show 41). Greg was brilliant to talk to and we really geeked out on Star Trek for a good portion of it which was a lot of fun to do. This show will certainly be an interesting listen for Trekkies and anyone who is looking at career options in the film industry as Greg discusses how he got into the business.
