Using 4 Instances to host the full orchestra using "Matrix" presets for each instrument.

Altiverb for each instance

Using 8 gig of system RAM without any problem

Quad G5 (2.5 ghz) system does not have enough power on the CPU's to be able to utilize the whole orchestra using standalone VE's at this point.

64 Bit version of the VE may make it possible for the Quad G5 system to run more instruments in VE.

8 Core Mac Pro has enough power to run full orchestra in 4 instances of VE.

Mac OS X.5's "Spaces" app makes it easier for you to have your instances of VE on the desktop without causing clutter.
