Some small but annoying flaws in Mac OS X.5 Leopard

Text Edit not quite opening as it should.

iTunes ins't playing back CD's correctly. It seems to jump over the first second of audio on a new track.

Waveburner may have a problem under X.5 with regard to the plugins that are there.

Some thoughts on VSL's new host application "Vienna Ensemble" (VE)

Creating Virtual Midi ports on the Mac

Open the Audio / Midi Setup app .. in your Applications / Utlities folder

Click on the IAC driver

Use the "+" key to add as many ports as you need for use with the VE Standalone

Reboot. And then in your sequencer the midi outputs should be the virtual port you have created, midi in should be the keyboard you are using. You should use just a normal midi track in the sequencer.

In VE, set the Midi in to the same Virtual port as you have set for the midi out in your sequencer.

And hopefully you should now be triggering the instrument within the VE Standalone player through your keyboard .. which is going through your sequencer. To have different instruments per instance simple assign a different midi channel to the instrument.
