Play piece - " Johnny Flamehead Overture"
The first is ‘Johnny Flamehead Overture’. This was originally written about ten years ago, and done with outboard modules and samplers. It was based on a set of dark comic book characters, done in the style of Spawn. It was used to open some shows in Las Vegas. The piece contains three themes, one for each character. The first is the ‘Johnny Flamehead’ theme, dark and heroic. The next is the ‘Zipperhead’ theme, demented and crazy, and the next is ‘Betsey’s’ theme, the tragic heroine. It ends with a reprise of the Johnny Flamehead theme. I recently redid it with newer samples, including VSL. It was a huge piece, possibly the biggest I ever done. Simulating a roughly 80 piece orchestra, plus a full choir. It was recorded one instrument/section at a time through Giga’s convolution reverb, then mixed in my DAW: SAWStudio.

  Play piece - " Muttley's Revenge"
The second is ‘Muttley’s Revenge’. This was also written years ago and recently redone. It’s basically a zany homage to Saturday morning cartoons, though, admittedly somewhat hyped up, ala Danny Elfman. Also recorded through Giga’s convolution reverb, one part at a time, then mixed in SAWStudio.

  Play piece - " Perception"
The third is ‘Perception’. This is one of my favorite pieces; written a couple of years ago, and inspired by a book I read about a serial killer in turn-of-the-century New York. Very minimalist, compared with the first two, and therefore much more difficult to mix. I would love to have tried it with the Chamber Strings instead of the full sections to see how it would sound. Alas, perhaps in the future. This was recorded dry then mixed with conventional reverb with various settings for each part.
