Welcome all to the VSL podcast News My Vienna Instruments Chamber Strings are here My thoughts on things to avoid for installing VI's if you're a Mac User If you're using s none admin account as your user account remember that the VI's will install into your main applications folder (admin) if you don't have another one specified for your current user account The VI works on a license scheme and needs to be able to freely connect to the VSL daemon and server within your system, if these are installed onto an admin account then you will not be able to access them and thus your VI's won't be able to work. In order to install your content it is best to install them onto an external .. or spare internal drive so that they can be easily found by the VI software. Chances are .. if you're VI player is not working right it's a permission error and something has been installed away from the control of the given permissions. In my case nothing worked because the VI software was installed onto my admin account and I, using my none admin account, couldn't write any settings or get the content to show up on the directory manager. Once I had moved all of my files and software back over to the admin account it all worked flawlessly. I'd like to thank Christian Marin for his kind help, and all of those who posted help on the VSL forum. Tech Topic - Composition with mutliple string libraries I used the VI Chamber Strings along with the First Edition Strings to thicken up the sound. The two string libraries complement each other nicely. Play Piece "Beyondness of things" by John Barry performed by Hetoreyn Performed using the Vienna Instruments Chamber strings and the First Edition strings with First Edition Flute, Basson and trumpets. Also the Epic horns and Garage Band Choir and piano . This piece was made between the hours of 23:30 - 03:00 on wednesday night and was all done by ear. A very simple mix. Strings were panned using the Dir-Mix plugin (See my Mix chart www.elvenmusic.com—mixing.html for details). And one Space designer Reverb for an overall room feel. And an ADlimiter to boost the gain.
