![]() ![]() For the violins you can get a thicker sound when the natural vibrato is happening (ie mf and f). In this range you can use volume control to achieve dynamics and make adjustments as you back off on the MW. It seems that VSL modwheel programs are more of a non-vib to vib control, which is what makes the thinness stand out. Coupled with Space Designer and the DIR-MIXER I could get a sound I even preferred to EW. Now the basses are a bit of a troublemaker. Some VSL notes sound the same as EW but not many. The trouble in the VSL library is the lack of any vibrato and natural chorusing that happens because of that. The challenge here is how to create the same effect yet still maintain the realism. Logic has a few plugins that I would like to use to create this result and I will report on my findings. The reason I would rather use plugins is if I am successful then I can go back to using VSL and I won't feel uneasy about investing any more money in it and the plugins can translate to K2, EXS or the VI. The 'effect' that I am trying to give the basses is subtle but will help create that fat full sound. Maybe even an extra insert Space Designer is the answer. |
